boutique therapy for moms
We believe in the mission for motherhood.
Hello There
Feather + Fern is a small specialized Private Practice that stemmed from our larger sister Picket Fence Therapy. Here we can focus on a concierge style therapy as it relates to all things motherhood.
It is our understanding that there are limited resources for women during the journey to motherhood. It is filled with fear, excitement, joy, and at times heartbreak.
If you're just starting on the path to motherhood, or struggling with uncertainty or loss on your journey, please feel free to get in touch or to schedule a session. We offer a safe place to be heard, supported and encouraged.
You are not alone. Thank you for letting me join you on your journey.

about me...
"The journey to (and through) motherhood was never meant to be one traveled alone…”
Hi, my name is Teresa.
I would like to take a moment to say thank you for visiting. Besides being a passionate therapist in the field of Maternal Mental Health, I am also a mother. I understand that there are a lack of resources. Especially those that are focused on helping women that are struggling with the journey to and through motherhood.
This includes any experience along the way, through the planning process, a fertility journey, losses, and the postpartum period.
I created Feather & Fern (Picket Fence Therapy) to support women in all stages of motherhood.
I have a strong foundation in Perinatal Mental Health, including specialized education in perinatal loss and the postpartum period- advocating and promoting awareness in the community and with professionals. I am passionate about every aspect of support.
I appreciate and enjoy helping women in every stage of the motherhood journey. This is my passion, my calling and my heart.
I look forward to hearing from you and working together.

What is Therapy?
Good question! Therapy is the process of working with a professional therapist to develop skills and tools as well as awareness and insight into why we do what we are doing. Therapy can look differently for different people and can change depending on what the therapy is meant to treat. Typically, therapy is in an office or Telehealth setting, where both parties can speak in an open and safe manner.
You may need support if you or a loved one:
Notice that you don't feel like 'yourself' or are sad or worried more often during pregnancy or after delivery
Have been struggling with fertility and need a safe place to be heard and supported
Have recently lost a pregnancy, experienced a miscarriage, or medical termination
Need help with the transition to parenthood
Want a safe place to grieve or feel emotions related to loss
Are on your path to parenthood and need support and holistic guidance through the process to become pregnant with the support of a Fertility Doula
We take maternal wellness
seriously.

Counseling and Fertility Doula Support
Infertility Journey
Are you struggling to conceive? Have you felt unheard by professionals, or don't know where to go to talk about the difficult things and feel support? Is the uncertainty creating anxiety or stress you haven't ever experienced before?
Through counseling and support, find resources and a path through the uncertainty. Bring your frustration, confusion and disappointment to a healing place where you will be heard, supported and cared for on your journey to motherhood.
After graduating with my BS and MS in Applied and Developmental Psychology at Eastern Washington University, in 2003, I returned to the PNW, a place that I called home. I have been involved in different aspects of Mental Health Counseling, experiences that were valuable to my professional development. Some areas of experience include crisis intervention, relative placement, child therapy, infant mental health and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I feel lucky to have had these experiences and look forward to continuing to grow my expertise with clients who may be struggling with anxiety, depression and transitional issues, as pertaining to the Perinatal period (Pregnancy through the first year postpartum), as well as perinatal loss, stillbirth and struggles through infertility.
I attend regular workshops and trainings as well as consultations with other professionals in the area to continue to develop skills and to remain updated on current mental health topics and issues that are relevant today. I have attended regular trainings as well as Birth Doula training in 2007, completing the PSI and 2020 Mom Professional Maternal Mental Health Certificate Training in July of 2017, obtaining Maternal Mental Health Certification in 2022, and Fertility Doula Certification completion this December, I am currently working toward perinatal infant loss certification through Hospice & Palliative Care. I feel that to be a well rounded therapist for mothers, it is also important to have education surrounding birth education and have completed doula education as well. As a Perinatal Support of Washington provider, I believe that it is imperative that therapists commit to ongoing education to continue to offer quality services to their clients as well as training to be a well rounded maternal care provider.
That is my commitment.
I have agreed to the role of Washington State Climb Coordinator for Perinatal Support Washington, and am excited to promote and advocate awareness in more ways in our community. My involvement includes curriculum development for consultation groups for PS-WA and sitting on the advisory committee for perinatal mental heath advocacy. I presented and co-host a bi-annual Loss Memorial with OUR Church in University Place to support families that have experienced pregnancy loss- honoring those babies that never joined us long enough earth-side.
Picket Fence Therapy has been serving individuals since 2006! We will be celebrating our 17 year anniversary in January!! I still feel like it is a dream. I am so encouraged every day to be able to work with the families that I do. And the path I have taken to get to this place has been such a huge blessing. Seeing recovery, healing and growth for my clients and personally being able to advocate and encourage awareness in the community keeps me passionate about my work. I look forward to hearing from you and appreciate you sharing your journey with me.
